- Principals Name New Manager of Chewelah Peak
Chewelah Peak Outdoor Learning Center is under the direction of a new general manager. Bill Barnes, an educator who has led student programs at Chewelah Peak since 2004, officially stepped into the position Oct. 17, 2008.
- Sign Up Now for National Green Week 2009
Principals are invited to register their schools to participate in National Green Week, Feb. 2-9, 2009. Participation is free and will provide your school with environmental curriculum for green assignments, activities and projects that can be integrated into science, math, language arts, social studies and creative arts curricula.
- TNT: Online System Helps Parents, Kids Stay on Track
Virtually everything in teachers’ grade books is now available online to students and parents for kids who attend Foss, Lincoln, Mount Tahoma, Stadium and Wilson high schools, the School of the Arts and Baker, Hunt, Meeker, McIlvaigh and Stewart middle schools. Somewhat surprisingly, Tacoma officials discovered it’s students – not parents – who are using the system most.
- Granite Falls Principal Releases New Book
Cathie West, principal of Mountain Way Elementary, has co-authored a book, "Leadership Teaming: The Superintendent-Principal Relationship," with Dr. Mary Lynne Derrington, former superintendent of Blaine School District and currently a professor at WWU. The book, published by Corwin Press, is due out this month.
