The Board of Directors serves as the policy-making body of our Association, guiding its direction and ensuring the success of its mission. With a range of responsibilities including reviewing and adopting the annual budget, establishing governing policies, and making decisions requiring membership ratification, the Board plays a pivotal role in our operations. Comprised of grade-level chairs, budget representatives, the current president, and president-elect, our Board reflects the diversity of our membership, working together to strengthen the relationship between the Association and its component boards to achieve our collective goals.
AWSP is governed by a 27-member Board of Directors that includes the AWSP president, president-elect and past president; the component chair and officers; AWSP executive staff; and liaisons from other K-12 education agencies and associations. The board president rotates among elementary, middle and high school component boards. Board meetings are held quarterly around the state.
Who Serves YouIn 1982, AWSP created the Washington School Principals' Education Foundation (WSPEF), a nonprofit foundation that oversees student leadership activities, outdoor learning centers and professional development services. WPSEF is governed by a board of directors made up of active and retired principals. Meetings are held quarterly in locations around the state.
