At AWSP, our goal is to be the first place you turn to or the first place you call when you need help principaling (yes, that’s a word…because we said so).
Developing Leaders
Aspiring
The Aspiring School Leaders Network cohort series is designed to provide resources, guidance and supports to those who have set their sights on leading and transforming educational systems for all students.
Internships
AWSP supports aspiring principals. We help new administrators develop skills in core areas ranging from time management and crisis planning to curriculum development and communication with key stakeholders.
Mentoring
Mentoring can support the development of new school administrators as instructional leaders and increase principal and assistant principal retention, contributing to greater stability in school reform efforts over time.
Induction
The research is clear, if we do not put supports in place, we will be less likely to keep leaders in their roles beyond just a few years. Induction is the key to insuring we GROW good leaders, from diverse backgrounds with strong local context!
Next Level Leaders
Next Level Leaders Academy (NLL) equips school administrators with leadership practices to enhance student achievement. By fostering teams and building collaborative learning systems, NLL aims to create high-performing educational environments for all students.
Leaders of Color Network
LOCNET strives to create a safe and brave space for Black and Brown leaders by providing opportunities for members to learn together, build collegial relationships, network, and provide a sense of belonging.

The Foundation
The Association of Washington School Principals set up WSPEF to further the development of children’s education long before social-emotional learning (SEL) became a term. Since 1956, one component, the Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) has been developing and empowering students to lead: in their schools, within their groups, and in their communities.
