Nominations for 2026 are Now Open!

A positive school culture doesn’t just happen—it’s something students and adults intentionally create together.

It’s the energy students feel when they walk through the doors. It’s in the traditions that bring people together. It’s the students and staff who make belonging a priority.

The AWSL/AWSP Culture Kickoff Award celebrates schools that are intentional about creating a positive culture from the very beginning of the year and carrying it forward all year long.

This award recognizes schools that:

• Launch the year with engaging assemblies, themes, and fall kickoff events.
• Intentionally set the tone for belonging, community, and success.
• Sustain that positive culture throughout the year by fostering collaboration between students and adults.

We’re looking for schools and individuals who go beyond the expected—who foster welcoming, inclusive, and thriving learning environments where both students and staff flourish.

NOTE: To be considered as a Culture Kick-Off winner, schools must have both an active AWSP and AWSL membership.

Who Can Nominate?

Schools can be nominated by students, principals, assistant principals, superintendents, teachers, district office staff, or community members who recognize the school’s powerful culture kickoff for the year.

Selection Timeline

• Nominations are open through Friday, Sept. 25, 2026
• Awarded: October
