Mental Health Awareness Month Resources from Kaiser Permanente

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and focus on daily habits that strengthen mental well-being. AWSP’s partner Kaiser Permanente Washington is here to provide tips, tools, and education to help you support your employees’ mental health and emotional wellness.

Webinars for Employees:

  1. Navigating Depression and Anxiety with Compassion
    Date: Wednesday, May 13, 12:30 – 1:30 PM
    Description: Presented by CALM and NAMI, this webinar offers guidance on how to spot mental health symptoms, support conversations about getting help and access resources during challenging times. Register here
  2. The Way to Staff Well-being in Schools: Mental Health for Educators
    Date: Tuesday, May 19, 4:00 – 5:00 PM
    Description: School employees that are mentally healthy are our most valuable resource for creating safe and supportive learning environments, especially during uncertain times. Lara Angell, LMHC, MPH, Manager Behavior Health at Kaiser Permanente Washington will share preventive strategies and easily accessible mental health resources.

  3. Remember, Brain Health is Important, Too
    Description: Presented by bilingual physicians, these sessions will help attendees recognize memory changes, work more effectively with their doctor, and explore preventive lifestyle approaches and resources to keep the brain healthy. Register below for a session in your preferred language:

    Date: Thursday, May 19, 11:00 – 12:00 AM
    Description: Learn how early identification and proactive intervention to quiet cracking can help employers’ employees build resilience, strengthen wellbeing, and cultivate a more engaged workforce. Register here

  • Kp.org/selfcareapps – Calm and Headspace offer guided meditations, sleep stories, emotional support coaching, and personalized programs to help manage stress, anxiety, and sleep. Available at no cost to KP members.
  • Mental Health Month Calendar (attached) – Each day features a prompt aimed at encouraging self-care, mindfulness, and positive mental health practices.
