Tackle Your Professional Learning And Clock Hour Needs This Year With A Professional Growth Plan (PGP)
Whether you are recertifying your license, searching for clock hours, or wanting to build specific skills in your role, PGPs are just the tool to help you meet your professional development goals!
What is a PGP?
PGPs are job-embedded, self-directed professional development. Educators set goals aligned to standards, design an action plan, collect evidence, and reflect. PGPs for certificate renewal are eligible for 25 clock hours.
How much does a PGP cost?
Nothing! PGPs are FREE for Washington Educators to complete.
Who can complete a PGP?
All educators in all roles can complete PGPs including:
- Paraeducators
- Teachers
- Administrators
- ESA’s (school nurses, school counselors, school psychologists, etc.)
What’s the timeline for completing a PGP?
Only one PGP may be completed each school year between July 1 of one year and June 30th of the following year.
How do PGPs support educator development and retention?
Because of the design flexibility and embedded opportunities for learning, PGPs are an innovative growth and retention strategy for all educators. Since the competency based learning of a PGP requires the educator to apply and demonstrate skills, educators often internalize their new learning in ways that go beyond traditional professional development. This learning practice builds on educators’ passions and can inspire growth within their existing roles, and growth within the field.
