As a former elementary principal for 11 years, I know just how central literacy is to everything we do. I also understand how hard elementary principals and assistant principals work to engage students and families in reading, knowing it’s foundational to academic growth. That’s why I’m excited to share an opportunity that supports your literacy efforts—and makes it easier to get books into the hands of every student.

AWSP has partnered with Books Are Fun to promote their Book Blast program, which is already making an impact in schools across Washington. Here's what makes it worth your consideration:

  • Every student receives at least one brand-new, age-appropriate book.
  • There’s no cost to your school—no invoices, no budget concerns.
  • The Book Blast team handles 90% of the work, minimizing the lift for you and your staff.
  • It brings families and communities together around a shared goal: literacy for all.

Many schools across Washington are already benefiting from this initiative, and I’d love to see more students gain access to books through this program. Prioritizing literacy is essential, and this initiative offers a simple yet effective way to nurture a love for reading in young learners.

I also encourage you to check out this feature news story highlighting the program’s impact. It’s a great example of how Book Blast brings books and excitement into students’ lives—something we all strive for.

If you’d like more information or want to explore how this might work in your building, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to connect and support. If you're ready to get started, you can schedule a quick Book Blast chat with the Books Are Fun team.

Thank you again for all you do!
