
As we step into February, we’re excited to once again kick off Member Engagement Month—a dedicated time to connect, elevate your voices, and explore new opportunities to shape the future of school leadership across Washington. This month-long campaign is all about strengthening our AWSP community and ensuring that every principal and assistant principal has the resources, support, and platform to make a lasting impact.
At AWSP, we believe that engaged school leaders drive real change. Your passion, dedication, and leadership are what make our association strong. That’s why we’re rolling out weekly emails, blog posts, and interactive opportunities to help you make the most of your membership. Whether it’s diving into new resources, sharing insights, or joining key conversations, this month is designed to amplify your influence.
What to Expect This Month:
1. Weekly Action Items
Each Wednesday this month, expect an AWSP email detailing two or three action steps you can take right away to become more involved with AWSP. These action items will include things like:
- Applying to join a AWSP Grade Level Leadership Committee
- Nominating for 2027 Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year (Sponsored by Lexia)
- A Member Survey for 2026 (Coming soon)
- Providing feedback on AWSP Leadership Framework Student Growth Goals (Coming soon)
- Advocacy alerts
- Joining an AWSP Leadership Network
- Connecting with your Foundation programs, and much more.
We’ll also highlight several member benefits that come with being a part of the AWSP family. From professional development and resources to legal benefits and additional leadership roles, we want to make sure you know about all AWSP membership has to offer.
2. An Invitation to Our Winter Advocacy Form on Feb. 19
You won’t want to miss our next quarterly Winter Forum on Feb. 19 from 3:30 – 5 p.m. Our Forums are a member benefit and clock hours are available. There is no cost to participate! The winter Forum is focused on advocacy. You’ll hear from Roz Thompson, AWSP Director of Advocacy and Government Relations, and Susan Lathrop, Chief Education Officer at OSPI. We’ll also dive into breakout rooms organized by grade level. Learn more and register anytime.
