AWSP is excited to partner with world-renowned educator, YouTube video sensation, TED talker, and our neighbor to the north, Shelley Moore for two amazing leading for inclusion events. First, a 2-hour webinar on January 14, 2021. Next, she'll offer a series for 10 lucky districts bringing teams of five, beginning January 28. And best of all, it's all free. Read on for details.



Tell Me Moore

Originally from Edmonton, and now based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Shelley Moore is a highly sought after teacher, researcher, consultant and storyteller and she has worked with school districts and community organizations throughout both Canada and the United States. Her research and work has been featured at national and international conferences and is constructed based on  theory and effective practices of inclusion, special education, curriculum and teacher professional development.

Her first book entitled, “One Without the Other” was released in July 2016 to follow up her TEDx talk hosted in Langley in January 2016. Shelley completed an undergraduate degree in Special Education at the University of Alberta, her masters at Simon Fraser University, and is currently a SSHRC funded PhD candidate at the University of British Columbia. Building the Infrastructure For Inclusion & Equity

In this two hour virtual session, we will look at what research and literature shows are infrastructural conditions that can support inclusion at a systemic level. Regardless of where communities are in their journey, this session will consider the needs of both students and teachers as communities continue to make the shift towards inclusion for all students.

This session is open to all educators who are passionate in increasing and strengthening their praxis and pedagogy for inclusion and inclusionary practices in service for each and every student.
Session will be held virtually on AWSP's Learning Management System.

Moore Leadership For Inclusion Series

Two cohorts of 10 leadership teams of five will join us for a free series to build and strengthen inclusionary practices. This cohorts will research, set goals and practice in their school contexts the 5 P's of inclusionary practices: 
  • Presumed Competence: All students are presumed competent.
  • Placement: students are placed in inclusive classrooms.
  • Proximity to and Participating in: Students are within proximity to and participating in learning with peers.
  • Purpose: All students have meaningful purpose.
  • Planned for: All students are planned for.
The series ends with a final celebration for participants to share their learning.

All sessions run 1:00 - 3:00 pm on the scheduled dates:

  • June 10

All sessions run 1:00 - 3:00 pm on the scheduled dates:
