As we step into February, we’re excited to kick off Member Engagement Month—a dedicated time to connect, elevate your voices, and explore new opportunities to shape the future of school leadership across Washington. This
month-long campaign is all about strengthening our AWSP community and ensuring that every principal and assistant principal has the resources, support, and platform to make a lasting impact.
At AWSP, we believe that engaged school leaders drive real change. Your passion, dedication, and leadership are what make our association strong. That’s why we’re rolling out weekly emails, blog posts, and interactive opportunities to
help you make the most of your membership. Whether it’s diving into new resources, sharing insights, or joining key conversations, this month is designed to amplify your influence.
A great way to get involved is through our Grade Level Leadership Committees (GLLCs).
These committees play a vital role in guiding AWSP’s work and ensuring school leaders across all grade levels and regions have a seat at the table. If you're in a grade-level and ESD region with open positions, keep an
eye on your inbox this week for an invitation to apply. Many of our GLLC members call their involvement one of the most rewarding experiences of their careers!
What to Expect This Month:
1. Winter Advocacy Forum TOMORROW!
Stay informed about the latest developments in education policy and advocacy. You'll hear from our Director of Advocacy and Government Relations, Roz Thompson, and OSPI Deputy Superintendent,
Michaela Miller, on crucial issues affecting school leaders and the advocacy work our association is doing. Register now for the
Winter Forum, January 30, 4-5:30 PM.
Planning ahead? Save the date for Spring Forum, March 18 from 4-5:30 PM!
2. A Request to Update Your Profile
Do we have all your important information on record, and is it up-to-date? Cell phone, address, ethnicity, etc. Log in to your profile to check or update your records. If you are a Leader of Color, it is particularly important that we have your ethnicity data to ensure you get all the best LOCNET
events and resources.
3. Weekly Social Media Prompts + Chances to Win Amazon Gift Cards
We LOVE hearing from our members! This Engagement Month keep an eye on AWSP's Facebook, Instagram,
or LinkedIn pages for weekly questions engaging you about leadership, membership benefits, and more. Each week we will choose a randomly
selected winner to receive an Amazon gift card for participating!
4. Thursday Member Benefits Emails
Each Thursday this month expect an AWSP email detailing one of the many member benefits that come with being a part of the AWSP family. From professional development and resources to legal
benefits and additional leadership roles, we want to make sure you know about all AWSP membership has to offer.
Why Get Involved?
Your involvement is more than a checkbox on your membership journey. It's about actively contributing to the educational community, sharing your expertise, and helping shape the future. When you engage, you empower yourself and others, and collectively,
we elevate the standard of education.
By participating in Member Engagement Month, you not only enhance your professional development but also play a pivotal role in influencing the trajectory of education. Your voice matters, and AWSP
is the platform that amplifies it.
Get ready for an exciting month filled with opportunities to connect, learn, and make a meaningful impact. Keep an eye on your inbox for our weekly emails, each focusing on a specific theme aimed at enriching
your membership experience.
Let's make this month a celebration of collaboration, growth, and advocacy. Together, we can build a brighter future for education.
